The Hungarian National Dance Ensemble will present a two-part performance of Kalotaszeg and Szatmár from the Living Dance Archive series at the 34th Folk Dance and Music Festival. The folklore show will be presented on Friday, 8 November at 7 pm in the main hall of the Tamási Áron Theatre.
Living Dance Archive
Zoltán Zsuráfszky, Kossuth Prize-winning choreographer, inspired by the original dance collections of Dr. György Martin, launched his series Living Martin Archive a few years ago as a tribute to the great scholar.
The "Living Dance Archive" series revolutionized Hungarian folk dance on stage, showing that only from the "pure source" performances of high artistic value can be created. The parts of the series - Bonchida three times, Kalotaszeg, Szatmár, Gyimes and Mezőség - present the most deeply rooted and mastered authentic dance processes and outstanding dance personalities of the title region, giving the audience the opportunity to discover the richness and beauty of their own dance and music culture. Each of the profound and sincere moments of the performances is a testimony to the creator's passionate love for popular culture.

Kalotaszeg - Living Dance Archive
Following the collecting journey of the indefatigable ethnographer György Martin, the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble invites its audience to the gaudy Kalotaszeg. The year is 1969 and the event is a landmark dance collection. The result is a sound film that is a landmark in the history of Hungarian and European folk dance education. The production is a tribute to the Hungarian, Romanian and Gypsy communicators, dancers and musicians who have preserved and passed on to us this wonderful culture.
A folklore show in 50 minutes.
Satu Mare - Living Dance Archive
Can we list 290 villages in our country, in the Carpathian Basin? György Martin and his team have collected the dances of exactly that many villages in the greatest detail - only in Satu Mare! With their noble and epochal work, they have captured the dances of the people living there. The Hungarian National Dance Ensemble presents this material, which has become a treasure trove, as a worthy theatrical experience. The performance begins with a quotation from Zsigmond Móricz's collection from Szatmár, which is transformed into a real theatrical experience by the most beautiful Hungarian verbunk dances, the Csárdás of Nagyecsed and Tyukod, as well as virtuoso gypsy dances.

Children are invited to draw a picture of this fairytale forest party, with folk musicians, of course.

TURNÉPROGRAM:
We will start our 2024/25 season with a new name, we will continue our activities as Háromszék Dance Theatre. The new name faithfully reflects the image of our company, because in our repertoire, in addition to folklore shows, new dance theatre performances from season to season bear witness to our progressive ars poetics: to pass on tradition by creating new, individual forms, to place it in a new context in the language of theatre. In the new season, however, in our search for the freshness of tradition, we will not forget that folk dance is our mother tongue.
In September the child performance Lúdas Matyi will be staged by the recently deceased Novák Ferenc Tata. The fairy tale musical based on the classic work by Mihály Fazekas is not unknown to the audience of Sfântu Gheorghe, as our company has already staged it in 2001 and 2008 - with big success. The premiere in 2024 is a renewed version of these, which will be staged this month in several casts in Târgu Mures and Sfântu Gheorghe.
More about the performance: Lúdas Matyi
Our season kicks off with an unusual co-production. From 6 to 7 September, our company will also participate at the Transylvanian Dance House Meeting, when again Odorheiu Secuiesc will be alive with folk music and folk dance. On Saturday evening, the event will feature a gala performance by the Udvarhely Folk Dance Ensemble and the Háromszék Dance Theatre, a joint production of the Ritka Magyar- In Memory of Zoltán Kallós. The director-choreographer of the production is Zsolt Csaba Tőkés, the musical editor is László Kelemen. The performance will feature the Kedves and Heveder orchestras.
Tickets for our performances in Sfântu Gheorghe can be purchased at the Central Ticket Office.
The office is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 am to 4 pm, Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm, Friday from 8 am to 3 pm and one hour before the performances. Telephone number: 0267-31212104.
The professional company of Sfântu Gheorghe, which has been operating for 34 years, will continue its activities as Háromszék Dance Theatre, a name change approved by the Covasna County Council - the institution's sustainer - at its last council meeting. The company continues to represent the folk music and folk dance tradition of the Carpathian Basin at a high level.
The Háromszék Dance Ensemble was founded in 1990 in Sfântu Gheorghe. Until 1999 it was a professional folk dance ensemble operating from the state budget, then for ten years (1999-2008) it belonged to the city mayor's office. The last time the company changed its name was in 2000, when it was transformed from Háromszék State Folk Ensemble into Háromszék Dance Ensemble. The objective of the company is to collect, preserve and transmit the folk music and folk dance culture of the Carpathian Basin ethnic groups.
The name Háromszék Dance Theatre faithfully reflects the company's profile, because in addition to folklore shows, its repertoire includes new dance theatre performances every season, which testify to the progressive approach of the company's founder Árpád Könczei and its director for 30 years, Gyula Levente Deák: to pass on tradition by creating new, individual forms, to put it into a new context in the language of theatre.
By discovering the dramatic potential of certain folk customs, rituals or even regionally relevant historical events, we have created such performances as Vérnász, Váróterem, Ábel, Csávási ballada, Böjttől böjttig, A banda, Száz évig, Tékozló fiú, Gábor Áron, Erdély-menyegző, Mundruc, Tiszta or Átöltözés. Endre Virág emphasised that recent productions have crowned this process: the Tragedy, based on the work of Imre Madách, or Ecce Homo, a work on the paintings of Mihály Munkácsy, are, so to speak, current examples of this ars poetica. Deputy director Noémi Sipos added that their new name also testifies to the fact that the company has now "paved" the new paths and "dance paths" it has broken itself and is confidently moving forward, constantly seeking freshness in tradition.
Director Endre Virág highlighted that the name change could open up new financial resources: in addition to the new opportunities for tenders, the county municipality could benefit from the "cultural fund" created from 2% of personal income tax, which will be used to support municipalities that maintain their own theatres, operas and philharmonic halls.
The Háromszék Dance Theatre has now also included the education of young people in its activities. In addition to the name change, the County Council has also approved the inclusion of the "Százlábú" Children's Folk Dance Ensemble under the auspices of the dance theatre. Founded by Endre Virág and Imola Virág in 2006, the "Százlábú" Folk Dance Ensemble has become a veritable youth movement in Sfântu Gheorghe. The leaders of the ensemble engage 140 children in three age groups every week, using folk dance to strengthen the experience of belonging to a community and offer young people a valuable form of entertainment. All the while, they educate a culture-consuming and understanding audience.
Két új bemutató, hat különböző előadás repertoáron, Népzene- és Néptánctalálkozó, Erdélyi Hivatásos Néptáncegyüttesek Találkozója, hangszerbemutatók, vidéki kiszállások, belföldi- és külföldi turnék, táncházak gazdagították a 2023/2024-es évadunkat.

Home in the Homeland
Évadunkat a Home in the Homeland c. folklór előadással indítottuk augusztus 20-án Nyíregyházán, a Nyíregyházi Folkfélhét 2023 rendezvény keretében.
A Módos Máté és Módosné Almási Berta Csilla rendezésében készült produkció a történelmi Magyarország különböző régióinak táncait és autentikus, teljes értékű viseleteit mutatja be. A táncos barangolás során somogyi kanásztáncot, páros ugróst, üvegest, rimóci sarkantyúst, karikázót, alföldi botolót, viski csárdást és keringőt, bukovinai kétfelé tappantóst és silladrit, nagypaládi és szeghalmi verbunkot is láthatott a közönség.
Rendhagyó folklór előadásunkat összesen 14 alkalommal vittük színpadra Nyíregyházán, Veszprémben a Veszprém FOLK 2023 keretében, Sepsiszentgyörgyön, Baróton, Gyergyóalfaluban, Nyárádszeredán, valamint Kézdivásárhelyen.

We will live free
Petőfi a köztársasági elveit mindenhol hirdette, a forradalom tüzét állhatatosan szította.

Tragedy
Októberben újra műsorra tűztük tavalyi évadunk legtöbbet játszott Tragedy c. táncszínházi előadását. Könczei Árpád rendező-koreográfus a produkciót gondolatébresztőnek szánja. A táncművészet (néptánc, kortárstánc, mozgásművészet) eszközeivel a férfi-nő kapcsolatról, az egyén és tömeg viszonyáról, a hitről, szerelemről, szabadságról, a versenyről, a falanszter létről kérdéseket tesz fel és megpróbálja a válaszokat is megkeresni.
A Madách műve nyomán készült előadást többállomásos belföldi és külföldi turné keretében mutattuk be Nagyváradon, valamint a Nemzeti Táncszínház társszervezésében Debrecenben, Kecskeméten, Budapesten, illetve Veszprémben. A produkciót ezen kívül színpadra vittük még Sepsiszentgyörgyön és a Brassói Magyar Színházfesztiválon is.

World Famous Redever
Novemberben és decemberben összesen 6 alkalommal játszottuk a World Famous Redever c. gyerekeknek szóló előadásunkat. Redeverrel, Gyuri királlyal, a királylányokkal, Lágyi mesterrel, Albival és Leventével Sepsiszentgyörgyön, Kovásznán, valamint Marosvásárhelyen találkozhattak legkisebb nézőink.

Folk Dance and Music Festival, ed.33.
A két napos találkozó szombati, november 11-i helyszíne ezúttal is a Sepsi Aréna volt, ahol gazdag, változatos programmal vártunk minden korosztályt.

ECCE HOMO
Évadunk első bemutatóját 2024. január 29-én tartottuk. Társulatunk egy rendhagyó táncszínházi előadás létrehozására vállalkozott ECCE HOMO címmel, amelyet Farkas Tamás koreográfus álmodott színpadra Tapasztó Ernő társrendezővel együtt, Munkácsy Mihály 180. születési évfordulójának apropóján.
A produkció Munkácsy festményeit kívánja egyedi módon feldolgozni, egyrészt a festő géniuszi életútjának egy-egy karakteres elemét felhasználva, másrészt 21. századi, kortárs gondolattal társítva a képzőművészeti alkotások jelentéstartalmát, mondanivalóját, üzenetét.
A produkció alkotóstábja: Farkas Tamás rendező-koreográfus, Tapasztó Ernő társrendező, Fazakas Levente zeneszerző, Izsák Előd látványtervező, Szőke Zsuzsi díszlettervező, Cristina Breteanu jelmeztervező, Gyarmati Gabriella művészeti tanácsadó.

Április 10-én bemutattuk a Lúdas Matyi c. felújított gyerekműsorunkat Novák Ferenc „Tata” rendezésében. A Fazekas Mihály klasszikus műve alapján készült mese-musical a sepsiszentgyörgyi közönségnek nem ismeretlen, hiszen a Háromszék Táncegyüttes 2001-ben és 2008-ban is már színpadra vitte - nem kis sikerrel. A 2024-es premier ezeknek a felújított változata, amelyet több szereposztásban tűztünk műsorra, összesen 18 alkalommal. A sepsiszentgyörgyi közönségen kívül, a gelencei, nagyajtai, négyfalusi és baróti gyermekek is találkozhattak Matyival, a Libával és a kapzsi Döbrögi házaspárral.

18. Erdélyi Magyar Hivatásos Néptáncegyüttesek Találkozója
A Háromszék Táncegyüttes szervezésében került megrendezésre idén a 18.
A fesztivál nagy sikernek örvendett a sepsiszentgyörgyi közönség körében is, mindegyik előadáson teltháznak örvendhettünk. A négy nap során összesen 2175 látogatót sikerült bevonzani.

Táncházak
A Lajtha László Alapítvánnyal közösen ebben az évadban is megszerveztük a sepsiszentgyörgyi táncházakat. Összesen 11 alkalommal gyűltek össze a néptánckedvelő fiatalok, új táncokat tanulni és szórakozni a Folker együttes, illetve a Heveder zenekar muzsikájára.
A 2023/2024-es táncházi évadban is kiváló táncművészeink váltakozva voltak táncházaink házigazdái, akik tánc- és népdaltanítással várták az érdeklődőket. Megrendezésre került a hagyományos karácsonyi táncházunk, a farsangbúcsúztató táncház, illetve a Szent György- napi táncház is.
