Organized by the Háromszék Dance Theatre and the László Lajtha Foundation, the 35th Folk Dance and Music Festival will take place on November 7–8, 2025, in Sf. Gheorghe.
In connection with the event, we are holding a drawing competition for children aged 6–10, titled “The Realm of Folk Instruments.”
Our October schedule is enriched with tours and performances outside the city. Our repertoire includes the children’s production Lúdas Matyi, and as part of the 16th Székelyföld Days, we will present our folklore program This Side of the Tisza, Beyond the Danube. Additionally, we will showcase our latest production, the mystical dance drama Sunset, at several venues.
Rehearsals have begun for the production Sunset. Our company has embarked with great enthusiasm on the preparations for our latest premiere. The dance ensemble and the orchestra are working together with director–choreographer Zsolt Juhász, choreographer Tamás Farkas, composer Sándor Csoóri Jr., and costume designer Rita Furik, so that on September 18 our audience may experience truly special moments.
In the 2024/2025 season, we expanded our repertoire with two new premieres, while six different productions were featured throughout the year. We once again organized the Folk Dance and Music Festival, which attracted large audiences, and we also performed at several national and international festivals. The season was further enriched by instrument demonstrations, performances outside the city, national and international tours, and folk dance house events.
In collaboration with the László Lajtha Foundation, we organized again the folk dance house events in Sf. Gheorghe this season. A total of nine gatherings brought together young people interested in folk dance, giving them the opportunity to learn new dances and enjoy lively celebrations to the music of the Folker Ensemble and the Heveder Band.
We’re preparing a diverse program for the first month of summer: we will reprise our folk dance performance This Side of the Tisza, Beyond the Danube, host the Udvarhely Folk Dance Workshop Ensemble as guests, and participate in the nationwide Night of Movement series.
On May 15, 2025, the Háromszék Dance Theatre will present their dance theatre production ECCE HOMO at the Liviu Ciulei Hall of the Bulandra Theatre in Bucharest.
Our company is looking forward to a busy May: we will perform not only in Sfântu Gheorghe but also in Bucharest, Târgu Mureș, and Miercurea Ciuc.
We are preparing a diverse program—from playful performances designed for children to more serious, thought-provoking productions.
This month’s program features a new premiere, guest performances, Easter folk dance house, a Saint George’s Day performance, and a variety of rural tour stops.
