Our company is looking forward to a very busy May: we will perform not only in Sfântu Gheorghe but also in Bucharest, Târgu Mureș, and Miercurea Ciuc. We are preparing a diverse program – from playful shows for children to more serious, thought-provoking productions.
At the beginning of the month, on May 5, 6, and 7, schoolchildren from Sfântu Gheorghe will be the main audience as we perform our popular children’s show Lúdas Matyi on three consecutive days. The classic Hungarian folk tale comes to life through dance, offering a colorful and instructive experience for our youngest audience.

One of the highlights of the month will take place on May 15. We will premiere our dance-theatre production ECCE HOMO at the Liviu Ciulei Hall of the Bulandra Theatre in Bucharest. This show brings Munkácsy Mihály’s painting to life using movement and music. The guest performance marks the first collaboration between the Háromszék Dance Theatre and the Bulandra Theatre.
Directed by Tamás Farkas and Ernő Tapasztó, the production intertwines dance, music, and visual arts to present Munkácsy’s dramatic and emotionally charged world, offering a new perspective on the famous artist’s life work.
For our company, this show is an exciting artistic experiment, and the guest performance is an opportunity to draw attention to the values of Hungarian culture and the richness of its visual arts for the audience in Bucharest – in a language everyone understands: the language of dance.

Between May 21 and 24, we will participate in the 19th Meeting of Professional Hungarian Folk Dance Ensembles of Transylvania in Târgu Mureș, where professionals from Transylvania’s folk dance scene will celebrate collective creation and the continuation of tradition.
Our company will perform twice at the meeting: on Friday, May 23, we will present ECCE HOMO at the main hall of the Târgu Mureș National Theatre, and the following day, we will take part in the joint gala show of the professional folk dance ensembles.
At the end of the month, on May 27 and 28, we will present Lúdas Matyi and ECCE HOMO in organized performances at the Háromszék Dance Studio.
On May 29 and 30, we will visit Miercurea Ciuc, where we will perform for both children and adult audiences, presenting both Lúdas Matyi and ECCE HOMO at the House of Trade Unions.
A folk dance house event will be organized at the beginning of the month, on May 9, as part of the St. George Days celebrations. The event will take place in the lobby of the Tamási Áron Theatre starting at 9 PM. The hosts will once again be Katalin Stefán-Dobai and Bencze Stefán, who will offer beginner-level dance lessons in the Bodonkút style (Kalotaszeg). The music will be provided by the Heveder Band and the Folker Ensemble. Co-organizers: László Lajtha Foundation, House of Transylvanian Traditions.
