Programmes for January

2024. December 19.

In the first month of the year 2025, children will take centre stage. Our youngest visitors will be entertained by organised performances of Lúdas Matyi, guest performances by the Bekecs Dance Theatre, instrumental performances by our orchestra in three venues and, of course we will celebrate the Hungarian Culture Day.

On the 14th and 15th of January, Lúdas Matyi and the Döbrögi couple will meet children in Sfântu Gheorghe. The theme of the fairy tale musical based on the classic work by Fazekas Mihály is eternal: the guilty will be punished, justice will prevail. Lúdas Matyi is a hero of the Hungarian people, a lovable character with a twisted mind, whose fate is followed with great interest by the younger generation.

Our folklore performance "Home in the Homeland" will be performed twice at Háromszék Dance Studio. On 21 January, an organised performance will take our audience to the Somogy region, Rimóc, the pastures of the Great Plain, Visk, Bukovina, Nagypalád and Szeghalom. On 22 January, we will celebrate the Day of Hungarian Culture with our performance "Home in the Homeland".

Our orchestra will continue to organise instrument demonstrations this month. This time, children from Gelence, Cernat and Baraolt can get to know different folk instruments.

At the end of January, the Bekecs Dance Theatre from Miercurea Nirajului will come to Sfântu Gheorghe with two guest performances. Their adult production, a folklore performance called "Inherited by Dance", will be shown on Wednesday, 29th of January at 7 pm at Háromszék Dance Studio, and the next morning they will present a children's performance called "Brave New World".
