On March 19, the Artistic Ensemble Mureșul will visit Sfântu Gheorghe with a guest performance of their production Invisible Celebrations.
The performance, choreographed and directed by Hortenzia Lőrincz, will take place at the Tamási Áron Theatre starting at 7:00 PM.
“Not only the calendar has red-letter days.
Life brings us other kinds of invisible celebrations.
In those moments, forget everything, and pay attention to the celebration.”
— Sándor Márai
The inspiration for this production comes from a significant milestone: in 2025, Mihály Dresch, an iconic figure of Hungarian ethno-jazz, Kossuth and Liszt Ferenc Award winner, Distinguished and Merited Artist, celebrates his 70th birthday.
This occasion sparked the idea to create a performance based on music from the Dresch Quartet and Dresch String Quartet, focusing especially on expressing the female soul and being.
Just as Dresch’s music fuses authentic Hungarian folk music with jazz, Invisible Celebrations blends elements of folk dance and contemporary dance.
Created by women, the performance explores female rituals—their importance, beauty, and power—through a series of ceremonies that reflect both festive and everyday moments, highlighting intimate, hidden rites.
