New Premiere, Guest Performance, Easter Folk Dance House, Saint George\u2019s Day Show, and Rural Tours Highlight this Month\u2019s Program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 11<\/strong>, we proudly present the premiere of our new folk dance theatre production, T\u00fck\u00f6r (Mirror)<\/strong><\/em>, directed by Zolt\u00e1n Zsur\u00e1fszky Jr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the premiere, the production will be staged again on April 14 and 15<\/strong> at the H\u00e1romsz\u00e9k Dance Studio. On April 27<\/strong>, as part of the 32nd Saint George Days cultural week, and later in the month in K\u00e9zdiv\u00e1s\u00e1rhely<\/strong>, our new show will be performed three times at the Vigad\u00f3 Cultural Center for the local audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Folk Dance Theatre Performance in One Act<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I looked into the mirror\u2014it was the mirror of Beauty, love played within it, and so did returned love.
I looked into my mirror\u2014I didn\u2019t see myself.
I looked into your mirror\u2014I saw us.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"One can only know a person's face, but the face is not the person.
The person is behind the face. Invisible.\"<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How often have we lived by G\u00e1rdonyi\u2019s words? How often do we invoke the descendants of Attila? How often have we asked: how should we love our Sz\u00e9kely kin?
What does the mirror reveal in the heart of a mirrored soul when we dance the Sz\u00e9kely round dance?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our memories bloom beautifully when we think of you\u2014old dancers, elders, kind-hearted souls of the past!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the performance entitled \"Mirror\"<\/strong>, the H\u00e1romsz\u00e9k Dance Theatre brings to the stage a vibrant array of dances from Sz\u00e9kely regions: Erd\u0151vid\u00e9k, S\u00f3vid\u00e9k, Gyimes, the Mez\u0151s\u00e9g Sz\u00e9kelys, and the Gyergy\u00f3 and Cs\u00edk basins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing on memories of old collecting journeys and significant encounters, Zolt\u00e1n Zsur\u00e1fszky Jr.<\/strong> seeks a reflection of our present selves, breaking the usual structure of dance anthologies.
He choreographs new steps for the future third generation of the folk dance house movement, to new compositions by S\u00e1ndor Cso\u00f3ri Jr.<\/strong>, in collaboration with the excellent musicians of the H\u00e1romsz\u00e9k ensemble.
For a few moments in the mirror, we glimpse choreographies by Anett Nagyp\u00e1l, Ign\u00e1c K\u00e1d\u00e1r, Endre Melles,<\/strong> and Attila T\u00f3kos<\/strong> as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mid-month, the Udvarhely Folk Dance Workshop Ensemble will arrive in Sf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe with a guest performance. Their folk dance show Ritka Magyar (Rare Hungarian)<\/strong><\/em>, directed by Csaba Zsolt T\u0151k\u00e9s, will be staged on April 16<\/strong> at the H\u00e1romsz\u00e9k Dance Studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RARE HUNGARIAN<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In Memory of Zolt\u00e1n Kall\u00f3s<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This folk dance production pays tribute to our renowned ethnomusicologist\u2019s paternal and maternal homelands (the Kis-Szamos region and Northern Mez\u0151s\u00e9g), honoring their dance and musical traditions. Symbolically, it also reflects the depopulating, scattered Hungarian communities in Mez\u0151s\u00e9g and commemorates Kall\u00f3s Zolt\u00e1n\u2019s exceptional life journey.
The creators wish to convey perhaps Zoli b\u00e1csi\u2019s most important message: to draw attention to the transience of human life and emphasize the significance of what we leave for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our traditional Easter folk dance house returns on April 21 (Easter Monday)<\/strong> at B\u00e1bel Kiskult\u00far. Hosts Katalin Stef\u00e1n-Dobai and Bencze Stef\u00e1n will lead beginner-level Bodonk\u00fat (Kalotaszeg) dance instruction from 8 p.m.
Singing lessons will be provided by Judit Er\u0151ss. Live music will be played by the Finom band and Kogniac Music Studio.
We encourage guests to attend in folk costume. Gentlemen may enter with a red egg or a poem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets for our performances and for the guest performance of the Udvarhely Folk Dance Workshop Ensemble can be purchased at the Central Ticket Office.
