Start of the new season at Háromszék Dance Theatre

2024. August 26.

We will start our 2024/25 season with a new name, we will continue our activities as Háromszék Dance Theatre. The new name faithfully reflects the image of our company, because in our repertoire, in addition to folklore shows, new dance theatre performances from season to season bear witness to our progressive ars poetics: to pass on tradition by creating new, individual forms, to place it in a new context in the language of theatre. In the new season, however, in our search for the freshness of tradition, we will not forget that folk dance is our mother tongue.

In September the child performance Lúdas Matyi will be staged by the recently deceased Novák Ferenc Tata. The fairy tale musical based on the classic work by Mihály Fazekas is not unknown to the audience of Sfântu Gheorghe, as our company has already staged it in 2001 and 2008 - with big success. The premiere in 2024 is a renewed version of these, which will be staged this month in several casts in Târgu Mures and Sfântu Gheorghe.

More about the performance: Lúdas Matyi

Our season kicks off with an unusual co-production. From 6 to 7 September, our company will also participate at the Transylvanian Dance House Meeting, when again Odorheiu Secuiesc will be alive with folk music and folk dance. On Saturday evening, the event will feature a gala performance by the Udvarhely Folk Dance Ensemble and the Háromszék Dance Theatre, a joint production of the Ritka Magyar- In Memory of Zoltán Kallós. The director-choreographer of the production is Zsolt Csaba Tőkés, the musical editor is László Kelemen. The performance will feature the Kedves and Heveder orchestras.

Tickets for our performances in Sfântu Gheorghe can be purchased at the Central Ticket Office.
The office is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 am to 4 pm, Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm, Friday from 8 am to 3 pm and one hour before the performances. Telephone number: 0267-31212104.
